Peer review procedure

The University of Adelaide Press publishes books by the University’s own staff and current academic title holders that have passed two anonymous peer-reviews from qualified people external to the University and where possible, from at least one international specialist in the relevant discipline.

Manuscripts can be accepted conditionally at proposal level subject firstly to two favourable peer-reviews of the proposal and supporting material; then on two separate favourable reviews of the final draft.

Peer-reviews wherever practical are double-blind.

The peer-reviewing process satisfies and goes further than the official requirements of Australia’s Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC) which partially funds scholarly peer-reviewed publications.

Peer reviewers of full manuscripts are paid an honorarium of AUD$250.00. The Director of the Press is responsible for the correct processes being applied and is overseen by an Advisory Committee led by the University Librarian.
