Every book published by Cornell University Press and each of its imprints undergoes rigorous peer review by two expert scholars in the field, both of whom must have published at least one peerreviewed book themselves. Reviewers are selected for both their expertise in the book’s subject matter and for their knowledge of the intellectual landscape of the discipline in which the author is working.

The reports submitted by the peer reviewers address the following questions:

• Does the manuscript accomplish its aims and goals?
• Is it appropriately conceived, organized, and written?
• Is the work to be a significant contribution?
• Does it present original arguments or interpretations?
• Does it advance scholarly discourse in its field or fields?
• Does it engage with a diverse range of scholars at varying stages of their careers and with a variety of perspectives?
