Peer review procedure

MDPI Books is dedicated to high-quality scholarly publishing. Thus, all manuscripts submitted to MDPI Books are thoroughly reviewed by experts prior to publication. MDPI Books arranges the review process for editions in coordination with the academic editors and coordinates review for monographs with reviewers from the MDPI network. The final decision regarding acceptance of a manuscript lies with the academic editor for Editions and the MDPI Books academic consultant for monographs.

All manuscripts submitted to MDPI Books are reviewed by experts from the relevant field. Authors may suggest potential referees with the appropriate expertise, but note that the editors may not necessarily approach these referees.

Authors will typically be asked to revise their manuscript prior to a final editorial decision. When making an editorial recommendation, reviewers can select from:

  • accept
  • minor revision
  • major revision
  • reject

The Academic Editor makes an assessment based on the suitability of selected reviewers, the adequacy of reviewer comments and author response, and the overall scientific quality of the paper.
