Peer review procedure

transcript press publishes books in the social sciences, literary studies and literary criticism, the cultural sciences, history, philosophy, museum studies and heritage studies. To ensure a high academic standard in its publications, transcript uses different peer review methods. Every manuscript is first reviewed by an in-house editor well versed in the respective academic discipline. If this internal review is inconclusive, a second internal review is commissioned. If a manuscript is looking to be included into a specific book series, one of its series editors will also review the manuscript. For books based on doctoral research, we additionally ask for the examiner reports, where available. Proposal for book series, annual reports and other periodicals are reviewed by their respective editorial boards, including internal as well as external reviews. A subset of proposals under consideration will be sent out for single-blind or double-blind external peer review.
