kipu-Verlag

Kipu publishes scholarly monographs, edited books, long essays and research series in English, Spanish and German with a special interdisciplinary focus on InterAmerican studies. All book proposals and manuscripts are submitted directly to the editorial board of full professors and research associates to evaluate the scholarly relevance and quality standard. In a first step, the multidisciplinary board meeting decides to advance or discard a book project. Second, in case of advancing, one board member most suitable to the field of proposal/manuscript elaborates a formal evaluation report to be discussed again in the board meeting. Manuscripts or proposals that are subject to peer-review are distributed among experts in the relevant field for single or double blind review process. Peer-review reports are circled back to authors for slight or substantial changes. For acceptance of peer-reviewed publications Kipu requires at least one positive peer-review report. Dissertations or Master-Thesis are subject to the academic standards of the respective university. Formal evaluations of thesis advisors are taken into account and the editorial board adds recommendations or formal adaptations requests for final acceptance.
