Peer review procedure

All our books are edited by leading experts in their fields. They are primarily responsible for peer review of first draft chapters in the books they are editing. The peer review process for book chapters is usually managed via the ScholarOne platform which is widely used to manage review and other activities for major academic journals. Where an editor is not able to review a chapter (e.g. because it is does not fall within the editor’s area of expertise), with the editor’s permission we find and approach a recognised subject expert in that topic to review the chapter. Reviews are passed on to chapter authors (typically via ScholarOne) who then produce revised drafts for approval. To ensure transparency the contribution of subject expert reviewers is typically acknowledged in the preliminary pages of the published book. Review of published titles suggest our peer review process is successful in producing high-quality, authoritative and widely-respected content for both an academic and practitioner audience.
