Welcoming publishers and library supporters - Q2 2025

OAPEN and DOAB are pleased to welcome these new and renewing partners in Q2 of 2025

As two not-for-profit open infrastructures, OAPEN and the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) rely primarily on the generous support of academic libraries and publishers to help sustain and develop our open access (OA) book services. By contributing to our infrastructures, libraries and publishers are demonstrating the value they see in our mission and services.

Libraries who support OAPEN and DOAB can take advantage of a range of benefits available exclusively to them. We recognise the valuable contributions they provide amid an increasing myriad of challenges they face in the current political and economic environment, to enable us to continue to deliver our services at the standard expected of us by our community.

Publishers who wish to join OAPEN must publish academic, peer reviewed OA books that are made freely available (e.g., under a Creative Commons license). We charge a small hosting fee (more information) for the OAPEN Library to help maintain and develop the platform. Publishers who wish to join DOAB can do so for free, provided they meet a specific set of criteria which can be found on the website, alongside the application form. This quarter, we saw library support from Spain, the United States, and the UK. Similarly, publishers joined us from Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Poland. Taylor & Francis also renewed their gold level of sponsorship for DOAB.
