Open Access Books Project Management Internship at OAPEN & DOAB

Introduction
Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience with an academic publishing service provider? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Project Management Intern to join our team. This internship offers a comprehensive 360-degree experience in service provision for open access book publishing, including infrastructure management, community engagement, communication and marketing, account management, and general administration. You get to work in a supportive learning environment with professional guidance from a global team of dedicated colleagues committed to open science and knowledge equity. You gain real-world experience in open access publishing of scholarly books and their role in research and education and exposure to a dynamic open access environment. This role also presents you an opportunity to build a diverse professional network.

Stichting OAPEN & Stichting DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books) Foundation are not-forprofit foundations committed to promoting open access to scholarly books. Our mission is to improve the visibility and accessibility of academic research by supporting the transition to open access publishing. We offer open infrastructure services to publishers, libraries, and research institutions worldwide. Your Assignment
You will closely collaborate with our technical, community, and administrative teams. As an integral member of these teams, you will assist with various tasks defined within each department. Together with your supervisor, you will create a plan to experience different roles and responsibilities.
Your tasks will include, but are limited to:
Technical Tasks:
- Conduct quality checks on metadata and books.
- Synthesize language labels in the digital library.
Community Tasks:
- Assist in maintaining the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
- Maintaining website content and updates.
- Create data packages for community members.
Administrative Tasks:
- Support daily administrative operations.
- Assist with project reporting.
Your Profile
Education: Currently enrolled as a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Publishing and Media Studies, Communications Studies, Administration, or a related field.
Skills:
- Eager to learn with a proactive attitude and initiative-taking mindset.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- A team player with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of social media platforms is an advantage.
Availability: Able to commit to a consecutive duration of 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
Other Requirements
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Residing in the Netherlands during the course of your internship is desirable. If you are currently living or studying outside of the Netherlands, your university must be willing to sign the documents relevant for undertaking an internship

- A monthly stipend of 400 euros and potential travel reimbursement.
