UniPress Graz Verlag
By default, a single-blind peer review process, where reviewers are anonymous, is used. Alternative review processes, such as double-blind or open review, can be implemented in consultation, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
Authors and editors may suggest potential reviewers (any conflicts of interest must be disclosed). The publisher reserves the right, in consultation with the editors, to select reviewers based on subject-specific criteria. As a rule, at least two external expert reviews are obtained. For certain types of publications (e.g., conference proceedings, dissertations, edited volumes), an adapted review process may be applied.
Reviewers provide a recommendation (e.g., recommended for publication / recommended with reservations / not recommended). The manuscript is revised based on the reviews. When resubmitting, we request a brief statement outlining the changes made. Based on this, the publisher decides on the next steps. Formal editing (spelling, citations, illustrations, etc.) is carried out by our staff and external editors after a positive review.
